New Castle County moved into the high risk zone for Covid-19, acording to a dashboard from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

New Castle County had been in the moderate (yellow) spread category, with Kent and Sussex in the high risk or red category.

 

The latest uptick in cases lists more than 125  people in the hospital for treatment with a dozen or so in critical condition.Two residents of  Sussex County died from virus complications, according to the Monday report from the Delaware Division of Publlic Health. Neither was vaccinated.

The Division of Public Health reported more than 1,500 cases of the virus over the Memorial Day Weekend. A sizable number of cases are not reported because the individual tests positive at home and self-isolates without the case not being recorded in state reports. About one in five people are now testing positive for Covid-19.
