Wawa, Inc. will open its newest store at 970 Christiana Road (Route 273) on Thursday.

The store will feature free coffee on its first day at its location near University Plaza and Christiana Town Center.

The day will also feature Hoagies for Heroes competition. Local first responders from New Castle County Police, Delaware State Police Department, Troop 2, and Christiana Fire Company will compete to see who can build the most hoagies in three minutes. Wawa will conclude the Hoagies for Heroes competitions by presenting checks for $1,000 to each department’s charity of choice.

Daniel Deans will serve as general manager of the new Newark Wawa store, leading a team of about 50 associates. The store also has self-serve gas pumps.

The store features a fresh food kitchen. In addition, customers can buy their Wawa favorites through mobile ordering, curbside pickup, and delivery.
