Main Street Newark Hotel has a new hotel.

The Hyatt Place Hotel is accepting reservations in time for the University of Delaware’s graduation.

The hotel developer is Lang Development, which has extensive Newark student housing and commercial property holdings.

The Hyatt incorporated the landmark Green Mansion that had been home to offices.

The city has seen an increase in newer hotel rooms in recent years, with the opening of the Springhill Suites by Marriott. Another hotel under the Marriott flag is the Courtyard by Marriott Newark University of Delaware. It’s located on the north end of the city. A hotel project is under development off College Avenue on the south edge of the college town. More recently, a Super 8 budget motel on Main Street was razed to make way for development.

TKo Hospitality, based in Newport, manages the hotel.

The Hyatt will charge about $400 a night during graduation weekend, dropping rates into the $150 range in the summer. Hotels often command $300 to $400 daily rates during the UD graduation period.

Newark has a long history of hotels in the city that include the Deer Park, Washington House, and St. Patrick’s Inn, the Newark Post reports.
