The Häagen-Dazs Shops stand in Christiana Mall has reopened.

Located in the right corridor of the food court in the mall, the store will hold an opening ceremony starting at 12 p.m. on Feb. 18.

Christiana Mall shop owner Jim Henry opened his first Häagen-Dazs franchise location in Middletown in June of 2022 and said he looks forward to continuing the expansion in Delaware.

The store was closed by its former owner in 2021, due to the impact of Covid-19.

“I got into the ice cream business to be able to teach my son how to operate a business, which I hope one day he’ll be able to take over and provide the Häagen-Dazs experience for Delawarians for many decades to come,” says Henry.

“We are thrilled to bring back the indulgent taste of Häagen-Dazs to Delaware with the reopening of our second location. With an extensive selection of ice creams, sorbets and other delectable treats, each is crafted with the finest ingredients to provide a luxurious experience. We’re excited to celebrate with the community of Newark, “ says Rachel Javien, marketing director of Häagen-Dazs.

The Häagen-Dazs was developed by the founder of the company that now sells ice cream worldwide and has been expanding its store system. The name, which does not exist in the Danish language, was said to honor the efforts of that nation in taking Jews to nearby Sweden.. during the Nazi occupation.
