NYC man charged with possessing tools taken in tire store burglary

A Long Island City, NY man was charged after a burglary was reported at a tire store in the new Castle area

Delaware State Police identified the man as  Thomas Gordon, 61.

At 11:31 p.m., troopers were called to the  Firestone Complete Auto Care  at 2098 New Castle Avenue after an alarm went off and a large hole was observed in a garage door.

Troopers found Gordon walking through the parking lot of the business.

According to troopers, Gordon arrived at  Firestone, damaged the garage door, went inside and took hand tools he needed to fix the Nissan Rogue he was driving.

Gordon then fled from the business before being found  by troopers. A computer search determined the 2017 Nissan Rogue was reported stolen in New York and an active warrant was issued for Gordon’s arrest for the stolen vehicle.

Gordon was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned in  Justice of the Peace Court #11 and taken to Howard R Young Correctional Institution on a $3,050 secured bond.
