The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Emergency Response Team is at the Indian River power plant near Millsboro following a diesel fuel spill..

The DNREC Emergency Response Team, together with the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Coast Guard, are overseeing a cleanup of the spill.

Plant owner NRG released a statement to the news media reporting that 30,000 gallons of diesel was spilled when a hose became detached. The spill was confined to plant property.

The last coal-fired unit of the power plant is slated to close next year. NRG cited the low cost of wholesale electricity in its decision to idle the plant.
