Glasgow mainstay La Casa Pasta is a short walk to the Shoprite in the Four Seasons area south of Newark. It makes sense that some of the restaurant’s offerings should make their way to the store during the pandemic.
According to a social media post, the restaurant’s homemade meatballs, pasta, cheese, crab and lobster ravioli are available, along with homemade tomato or marinara sauce. Coming in the winter is a Bolognese sauce.
The La Casa Pasta items will be available at the Glasgow, Newark and Bear stores.
The Kenny family Shoprites have long featured items from local food purveyors.
La Casa Pasta is part of a family-owned restaurant group that includes Klondike Kate’s in Newark and the Chesapeake Inn in Chesapeake City.

Rosenfeld’s opening Wilmington location on Monday
Rosenfelds’s Jewish Delicatessen will open its Wilmington location at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
The deli will be the third for Rosenfeld’s, which got its start in Ocean City, MD and added a second location on Coastal Highway in the Rehoboth area. An outpost at the airport in Salisbury was closed as travel plunged.
Rosenfeld’s earlier annunced an agreement with Big Fish Restaurant group that will spur expansion. The Wilmington location, near ChristianaCare’s Wilmington Hospital, is part of a restaurant complex owned by Rehoboth-based Big Fish.
Five Guys opens
Following Covid-19 delays, Five Guys opened in the food court at Christiana Mall. Five Guys replaces McDonald’s, which fled the mall a while back. Like its Christiana Mall food court neighbor Chick ‘fil A, Five Guys has a location a short distance away in Governor’s Square, off Route 40 in Bear.
The fast food giant has been dealing with too many inside locations as well as the economics of cranking out a lower-priced menu while paying hefty mall rents. McDonald’s has also departed Walmart locations.
Curiously, the Golden Arches did not come up with a free-standing location somewhere around the mall, given the high traffic counts.
