From WHYY: University of Delaware lays off 1,100 part-timers

A university official making the announcement cited a $50 million loss by UD during the spring semester as a reason for the decision that becomes effective on June 1.

Top officials of the university have taken modest pay cuts as the institution makes plans for a possible reopening this fall.

University classes have been taught online and a variety of schools, camps and other summer activities have been canceled.
