Troopers seek suspect in late Jan. burglary at Sallie Mae headquarters

Delaware State Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:41 p.m. on  January 30, at the headquarters of  Sallie Mae, located at 300 Continental Drive  south of Newark.  The above-pictured suspect made forcible entry into the building before proceeding to a restricted area where personal belongings of employees are kept.

The suspect was able to take possession of several personal credit cards before exiting the property undetected.

After fleeing the Sallie Mae property in a rental vehicle, the suspect proceeded to the Christiana Mall where multiple fraudulent purchases were made, utilizing the stolen credit cards.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a dark colored baseball hat, dark-colored sweatshirt, light blue jeans and dark sneakers. The U-Haul rental van which the suspect was operating, displayed stolen Maryland license plate 2AWA66.
