Man stabbed outside Hockessin restaurant

The Delaware State Police have arrested a New Jersey man following an altercation outside the Mariachi House.

The incident occurred at approximately 1  a.m. Sunday  as a 20-year old-victim had just walked outside the Mariachi House located at 7313 Lancaster Pike after being involved in an altercation inside the restaurant. Upon leaving  the business, the victim was approached by Giovany A. Reyes,24, Bridgeton, N.J.  who showed  a knife and began stabbing him multiple times in the abdominal area.

Security working at the establishment observed the confrontation and took Reyes into custody only after he began fighting with the guards. The knife used in the attack was found  by security.

Reyes, who initially gave a false name, was turned over to responding troopers and transported back to Troop 2 in Glasgow  where he was charged with Assault 1st, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and Criminal Impersonation. He was arraigned at JP11 and committed to HTYCI on $61,000.00 cash bond.

The victim was transported  to  Christiana  Hospital  where he underwent surgery for his non-life-threatening wounds.

The relationship between the two is undetermined and the cause of the initial altercation inside the restaurant is unknown.
