Former State Rep. and Wilmington television host Herman Holloway Jr. has died at age 79.

Holloway was the son of the late State Sen. Herman Holloway and followed in his father’s footsteps as a legislator and political leader in Wilmington. He also operated small businesses before moving into the political arena.

He served six years as a state representative.

He also established the Martin Luther King Jr. Complaint and Referral Center, where he served as Executive Director for 48 years and provided assistance to residents of Wilmington.

He became well known for a pubic access television show in Wilmington that featured guests discsuing issues related to the city and state
