Mobile sports betting and IGaming started strongly in Delaware under new vendor Rush Street Interactive, which operates under the BetRivers brand.
Delaware Lottery figures showed that mobile gaming revenues rose substantially after BetRivers took over online gaming management from former operator 888 Holdings.
BetRivers quietly debuted in late December and introduced online sports betting in Delaware. Revenues rose sharply in January. (See table).
The Delaware Lottery also reported that the mobile app placed $1.2 million in bets for the Super Bowl in February. Final February figures will be available next month.
The entry of BetRivers marked a major change in the betting landscape in Delaware, a state where mobile sports bets could only be placed at the state’s three casino-race tracks. Casinos offered online games through 888 on their own branded apps. BetRivers is now widening its iGaming options with offerings from developer White Hat Studios.

Until late December, Delawareans wishing to place sports bets had to take their phones out of state to use widely advertised apps that include Draft Kings and offerings from casino giants Caesars and MGM.
Delaware Lottery Director Helene Keeley said the debut of Bet Rivers led to sports bettors to “come home to Delaware” after crossing state lines to Maryland and Pennsylvania to place their bets. The Bet Rivers app is available to adults who register and use their mobile devices in Delaware.
Keeley noted the fairly recent launch of online gaming in Maryland took a bite out of Delaware revenues.
BetRivers heavily promotes its app in nearby states, which probably aided the Delaware launch.
Gaming analysts will be waiting to see how gaming and online sports betting fare as the “new wears off” from BetRivers’ debut. A key period will come with the resumption of the National Football League regular season in September
BetRivers also released the following information regarding its mobile gaming app.
- 51% of the handle has been on slots
- 47% of handle on Blackjack and table games.
- 2% of handle on Keno
- 68% of casino wagers were on the iOS app and 22% on Android.
- Top 3 slot games- Cash Eruption (IGT), Money Link The Great Immortals (L&W), Rich Little Piggies Meal Ticket (L&W)
- Top 3 Table Games – Blackjack (IGT), Multi-hand Blackjack (L&W), Three Card Poker (L&W)
- The Delaware Lottery reports some 57,000 bets on the game were placed through the app
