The Newark Morning Rotary Club held a ceremony at the Newark Reservoir Sunday to commemorate its Flags for Heroes program.
The flags honor veterans as well as First Responders and other everyday heroes. Proceeds from sponsorships and flag sales go to nonprofits that serve veterans.
At the event, Morning Rotary member, retired Army Reservist and University of Delaware nursing professor Evelyn Hayes was honored with a nursing scholarship in her name.
