Two dozen Covid deaths reported after review of records

No one in critical condition as of Sunday

While the number of new cases remains small, Delaware is seeing an increase in positive tests for Covid-19.
 
After dropping below the 3% mark, cases have shown an uptick. However, hospitalizaitons remain at near record lows with no patients in critical condition as of Sunday night. 
 
Over the weekend,  an  examination of vital statistics records led to the death toll from Covid-19 rising by 24.
 
The records from January to March. Deaths are a lagging indicator of the omicron variant of Covid-19, which hit Delaware late last year and into the early days of 2022.
 
The deaths involved 12 residents of New Castle County, eight8 from Sussex, and four from Kent. They ranged in age from their 30s to 101.
 
All had underlying health conditions and six were residents of long-term care facilities. Also, 15 were fully vaccinated and nine were not vaccinated.
 
Delaware’s total number of COVID-related deaths now totals  2,870.
 

The other numbers as of Sunday night
 
• 50 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 259,977. 
• 3.5% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average (up one-tenth of a percent from the previous day).
• 31 current hospitalizations, up by four from the previous day, with no  individuals in critical condition.
• 14 new hospital admissions, up by four  from the previous day).
• 2,094 tests performed daily in the seven-day average, up seven from the previous day).
• 665,720 people fully vaccinated, up 69 from the previous day, according to the CDC Vaccine Tracker.
• 1,756,402 total vaccine doses administered, up 32 from the previous day, according to the CDC Vaccine Tracker.
