Covid update: Hospitalizations continue to rise

The Thursday Covid-19 update from the Delaware Division of Public Health reported one new death as the number of hospitalizations continued to increase.

A resident of Sussex County in their 90s and fully vaccinated died from Covid-19 complications. The number of Covid-19 deaths rose to 2,231.

The numbers

• 708 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 163,021.

• 37.2% of people who tested positive in the seven-day rolling average, up one-tenth of a percent from the previous day, and 9.3% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average, up one-tenth of a percent from the previous day.

• 358 current hospitalizations, up 10 from the previous day), including 41 individuals in critical condition.

• 26 new hospital admissions, up by five from the previous day.

• 794 people who tested negative, bringing the total to 753,280.

• 616,331 people fully vaccinated, up 940 from the previous day, according to the CDC Vaccine Tracker.

• 1,533,145 total vaccine doses administered, up 4,958 from the previous day, according to the CDC Vaccine Tracker.
