Earlier this week, Biden flew to Kentucky to meet with officials and those affected by tornadoes that tore through sections of several states.

The administration is also dealing with a surge of Covid-19 cases, driven by the Delta Variant, with the Omicron variant drawing increasing concern due to its potential for rapid spread.

Visits by the Biden’s provide a modest boost to the Wilmington area as staff, Secret Service members, and media book hotel rooms. In addition, infrastructure is in place to make announcements in the event of natural disasters or other developments.

On Saturday, the Daily Mail reported Biden, along with Jill Biden and other members of the family, stood at the graves of his first wife and infant daughter, who were killed in a holiday traffic accident near Hockessin 49 years ago. Their final resting place is the cemetery at St. Joseph on the Brandywine near his home. His son and former state Attorney General Beau Biden, who survived the crash, is buried in the church’s cemetery. Beau Biden succumbed to brain cancer.
