Acker Wines has opened a distribution center on Ogletown Road, near Newark.
The company, formally Acker Merrall & Condit is known jn the wine world for its live and online auctions. The company’s website lists Acker is the world’s largest wine auction house with annual revenues of $122 million.
The company’s roots due back 200 years. In 1998, third-generation wine merchant John Kapon expanded his family’s retail store operation to conduct independent, live auctions in New York City, according to the company’s website.
In 2008, ten years after its first auction in New York City, Acker expanded to Asia and now has offices in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Acker also has operations in London and Copenhagen
The company plans to hold a live auction in Delaware early next month.
