Citizens Bank, which operates branches in Delaware is offering a total of $1.5 million in grants to minority-owned small businesses.

The grants of $15,000 will go to 100 eligible businesses with a minimum of 51 percent minority ownership.

The bank will has partnered with SCORE to offer business mentoring services to those receiving the funds.

The funding is part of a $10 million commitment to promote social equity and drive economic advancement in underserved communities, an earlier release stated.

The grants come amid criticism over minority-owned businesses not getting Payroll Protection Program loan/grants. Some of this was due to minority-owned businesses not having strong banking relationships. The processing of PPP applications was handled  by financial institutions.
