Stimson named  COO at Adesis

Adesis announced that Helen Stimson has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. Stimson brings to the position knowledge in the biotech and life science sectors, advising on business development and transformation, strategic planning and marketing on a state, national and global level. She will lead the operational, sales and marketing aspects of the CRO business.

Prior to joining Adesis, Stimson was CEO of Delaware Bioscience Association. She also held an executive leadership post at Agilent Technologies, a laboratory instrument maker, running its global consumables division.

Adesis is a contract research organization based in the New Castle area.

Landmark Science & Engineering announces additions

Landmark Science & Engineering, Newark,  announced that Craig M. Lynch, E.I.T., has joined the firm as Civil Engineering Designer. He earned the designation of Engineer in Training and is close to achieving his goal of becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.

Lynch

Lynch earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a concentration in Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He previously worked for the New Castle County Department of Land Use.

Over the past five years he was assigned to over 230 Land Development Applications, including many notable projects. He gained invaluable insight into the land development plan review and approval process, and as a DNREC-certified Sediment and Stormwater Management Certified Construction Reviewer, he is experienced in inspecting erosion and sediment control practices and reviewing stormwater management plans.

Matthew J. Spagnuolo

Landmark also announced that Matthew J. Spagnuolo, E.I.T. recently joined the firm as a Civil Engineering Designer. He has earned the designation of Engineer in Training and is working toward the goal of becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.

Spagnuolo earned his Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the University of Delaware. After graduating, he worked for Bergen County NJ Planning & Engineering Department, where he interned in both areas of planning and engineering.

Delaware State University names provost

DeLauder

Delaware State University President Tony Allen announced the appointment of Dr. Saundra F. DeLauder as the institution’s new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

DeLauder is the sixth permanent Provost since the University created the executive academic leadership position in the late 1990s, and she is the first woman to hold the post.

She assumes the permanent position after serving as the Interim Provost since the beginning of 2020 and as the Vice Provost from August 2017 through 2019. She was the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research from her 2013 arrival at the University until 2017.

During her tenures as Vice Provost and Interim Provost,  DeLauder worked in faculty affairs, academic standards and requirements, new degree programs, strategic planning, key performance indicators monitoring, the Delaware Institute of Science and Technology, the offices of Institutional Research and Sponsored Programs.

Shafer

Delaware Zoological names interim director

The Delaware Zoological Society (DZS), the non-profit partner of the Brandywine Zoo, has appointed Mark W. Shafer as its interim executive director.

Shafer has held executive positions at the Risk Management Association in Philadelphia, and Bank of America and MBNA in Wilmington. He has deep experience in directing strategic initiatives and building brands. 

Shafer replaces Michael T. Allen, who served as executive director of DZS since 2014 and as board member from 2007 through 2014.  Allen is now the director of the Queens Zoo in New York. 

Sussex Montessori School names teaching director

McClure

Sussex Montessori School recently hired ten new staff with plans to bring on 12 additional employees, including associate teachers, nurse, and counselor by July 1.

Among them is Peter McClure, who accepted the position of Director of Teaching and Learning at the elementary school in Seaford.

McClure brings 20 years of classroom experience in public charter and private Montessori schools in Massachusetts.  A graduate of Yale University, with a MAT from Boston University, McClure is credentialed by the American Montessori Society.

BHHS Fox & Roach adds associate

Burnett

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors Hockessin Office, welcomed Crystal Burnett, as a sales associate and new member of the Dawn Wilson Team.

She was formerly with Toll Brothers and specializes in new construction, luxury homes and first-time homebuyers. She serves all of Delaware, and Delaware, Chester and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania.
