Delaware River and Bay Authority officials announced that the ramp from U.S. Route 13SB to I-295SB, commonly referred to as the Hospital Ramp, will be closed to all traffic beginning on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 7:00 a.m. for a about two weeks.
The ramp is expected to re-open on Tuesday, October 9 The construction schedule may vary due to weather.
During the two week closure, the Authority’s contractor, Mumford and Miller, will reconstruct the ramp as of the I-295 southbound reconstruction project. The following detour wil be avaiable: Continue on U.S. Route 13SB in the left lane, make a U-turn at the temporary signal just past the I-295 overpasses onto Route 13NB to the new, recently opened ramp to I-295SB. U-turn pavement has been added at the left turn and detour signage will be posted
Mumford & Miller Concrete, Inc. of Middletown, Delaware was awarded the $34 million contract for the project.
When highway construction work is substantially complete in December 2018, the authority will have invested more than $90 million to improve the region’s infrastructure during the course of the I-295 Delaware Memorial Bridge Approach Road Rehabilitation program.
