The scholarships are given by BBB’s Education Foundation. The Education Foundation serves as the consumer educational vehicle of the BBB of Delaware and surrounding communities.

The BBB Education Foundation is in the ninth year of its scholarship program and has awarded more than $45,000 in scholarships to Delaware students. Judges selected the scholarship recipients based on their leadership, contributions to their communities and schools, personal integrity, academic accomplishments, and a written essay.

The essay topic, “What Should BBB of Delaware be doing to Compete in Today’s Online World to Advance Our Mission?” presents the students with the challenge of applying their real-world experiences to the foundation and mission of the Better Business Bureau, while helping identify ways that BBB can be relevant to the next generation of consumers and business leaders.

The 2017-2018 winners wrote passionately about BBB, their view of BBB, and gave clever ideas about what the future might look like. The Scholarships were sponsored by M&T Bank and Sallie Mae.

This year’s winner is Shreyas Parab from Archmere Academy.

In addition, BBB recognized four businesses with the Torch Award for Ethics. The “Torch Awards” illuminate the importance of corporate conscience and the responsibility to conduct business fairly and honestly.
