It came as no  surprise, but the college town of  Newark was ranked as the most educated city in Delaware.

The report from  Insurify.com  listed the most educated cities in all 50 states.

In most cases, college towns topped the list in each stake, other examples being Cambridge, MA and State College, PA.

A couple of exceptions to the rule were the upscale communities of Marco Island, FL and the Washington, DC suburb of Bethesda, MD.

Insurify analyzed over 1.4 million completed auto insurance applications in which individuals were asked about their city of residence and the highest level of education.

Using a proprietary scoring algorithm,  analysts calculated a score for each applicant based on educational achievement.

The insurance industry has been criticized for using education, credit scores and other factors in assessing risk, with Delaware limiting the use of such criteria.

Educational achievement is a big factor in efforts to attract fast-growing companies and venture capital.

The Silicon Valley, the home of Stanford,  and Boston suburb,  Cambridge (MIT and Harvard) have been hotbeds for start-ups and venture capital.
