Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse closes its doors

bugaboologoweb whiteBugaboo Creek, a small steakhouse chain, has closed its doors. The company had a location near Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

The company posted the following on its website.

“After more than 20 years, the time has come for us to close our doors. It has been a pleasure to serve you and thank you for all of the memories,”

No other information was offered on the company’s website. The Bugaboo Facebook page was also taken down.

The company’s restaurants were mainly in New England and New York state. At  the time closing, the number of restaurants was down to nine.

The Delaware restaurant was well known for years for the  talking moose that overlooked the bar and proved to be a hit with children. Bugaboo featured a Canadian north woods theme and decor  along with a conventional menu of steaks and other items.

Bugaboo emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in 2012, but faced a difficult market that has sent many casual restaurant chains to bankruptcy court. Many  such cases have ended up in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington.

Its  neighbor, Old Country Buffett has had at least a couple of trips to bankruptcy court in the past several years.
