The Nowcast from The Reserve Bank releases the forecast to fill the gap between the release of the nation’s jobless rate and state rates a few  of weeks later.

During the month of November, the national unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.0 percent.

The Philadelphia Fed   expects  unemployment rates for November to decrease from 5.1 percent to 5.0 percent in Pennsylvania and from 5.4 percent to 5.3 percent in New Jersey and increase from 5.1 percent to 5.2 percent in Delaware.

The Delaware jobless rate has been rising as the state’s workforce participation rate increases. The higher participation rate in Delaware stands in contrast to lower rates nationwide.

State labor market officials caution that jobless rates in Delaware are subject to revision. This is especially true in Delaware, where a relatively small adjustments can amount to tenths of a percent.

The next state nowcast release will be on January 8, 2016, following the BLS release of the December national employment report.
