PRSA awards scholarship to Millisky

MilliskyThe  Public Relations Society of America, Delaware Chapter this week recognized University of Delaware student Julie Millisky with the  PRSA Delaware Award and a $1,500 scholarship.

The annual PRSA Delaware Award recognizes an outstanding student attending a Delaware college or university studying public relations or a related field.

“The members of the Delaware Chapter of PRSA has seen great work coming from public relations students in the state and we established this award to recognize their efforts,” said Spiros Mantzavinos, PRSA Delaware immediate past president and development committee chairman.

Julie Millisky is a junior at the University of Delaware  pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, and recently accepted an offer to pursue a  master’s degree in Public Administration at the university. In addition to being Public Relations Director for PRSSA-UD, Millisky is involved in the Blue Hen Leadership Program and serves as a mentor for incoming freshmen students.

“Having the opportunity to participate in a case study competition as an undergraduate student is just one of the many benefits of being a member of PRSSA and connecting with PRSA Delaware,” she said. “I am so thankful to have had this amazing learning opportunity! This definitely put me a step ahead in my career exploration journey.”

Administered by the Delaware Community Foundation, the scholarship award was established with an initial gift from PRSA Delaware. The scholarship is also supported by corporate and business leaders in public relations. Sponsors include: Navient, The Sallie Mae Fund, CSL Behring and Tipton Communications.

Applications for the 2016 PRSA Delaware Award will be available as early as January.
