Wawa, Citi roll out Wawa card with discount for gas

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 1.48.01 PMCiti Retail Services and Wawa, Inc. have reached a multi-year agreement to launch a private label consumer credit card program for Wawa customers.

The card will come with a five-cent-a-gallon discount as well as a 25-cent discount until the end of the year. The discounts apply to the first 100 gallons of gas purchased.

Wawa owns and operates more than 700 convenience stores, with more than 450 offering gasoline) in the Mid-Atlantic region and Florida.

Customers may want to pay off the card balance each month as the interest rate is nearly 25 percent.

The companies  launched the card program  on September 30.  Citi will manage and service the portfolio of accounts.

The Citi card portfolio includes Best Buy, Macy’s, Sears and The Home Depot.

The card comes a number of years  after the Wilmington-based credit card unit of Chase dropped Wawa and other private label cards in a streamlining move.
