Bbayhealth02ayhealth has partnered with Christiana Care Health System to provide on-site pediatric hospitalists at Bayhealth Kent General. The partnership allows hospital-based physicians to be available 24 hours a day, seven  days a week for emergency consultation and care.

Pediatric patients from Kent and Sussex County can be referred by their physician to Bayhealth Kent General to receive a higher level of care, delivered closer to home, a release stated.

Pediatric hospitalists are board-certified physicians who work exclusively with hospital patients from infancy through adulthood.

With pediatric hospitalists on-site, a child can receive progressive care in a way that is comfortable and reassuring to both parent and child, according to a Bayhealth release.
“Our board-certified pediatric hospitalists are pleased to partner and care for infants and children at Bayhealth Kent General, and provide the expert care families value. Working closely with each family and the child’s physicians, our inpatient pediatricians will provide the specialized care families count on for their child’s health and well-being,” stated Laura A. Lawler, M.D., Chief of Pediatric Hospitalists.

The pediatric hospitalists will oversee all medical treatment from admission to discharge, including examining your child, ordering tests and medications, and answering any questions you or your family may have. Hospitalists participate in care for newborns after birth and help ensure a safe transition to the chosen primary care physician, a release stated.

Care will include  close communication with your pediatrician or primary care physician, the release stated.
