A Delaware company has submitted an appliction to determine whether an operation that would process poultry waste would be covered under the Coastal Zone Act.

Green Recovery Technologies, Greenville,  is seeking a decision to determine if a Coastal Zone Act Permit is required to construct and operate a facility in the Riveredge Industrial Park, New Castle.

The plant would separate proteins and lipids from poultry processing wastewater “sludge” for use in the pet food industry, according to a summary on the Delaware Department of Natural Resources website.

According to Green Recovery’s website, the company “was inspired by recycling efforts in other industries. Focusing primarily on animal processing wastewater, we sought out ways to make this by-product more environmentally safe while at the same time rendering reusable products.”
