DelDOT crews pretreated roadways for a storm that skirted the area.

A wintry mix was expected later in the day with an inch or less of accumulation , Accuweather reported. A few flakes began to appear around 2 p.m. The storm had been slated to arrive mid-morning.

This comes after two recent storms, including one that caught forecasters, motorists and road crews by surprise on Sunday.

The Sunday  storm led to snow cover for a time on Interstate 95 as up to a foot of snow fell. The second storm had less snow than some forecasters had predicted.

Since Friday morning, crews had  been pre-treating roads in New Castle county with brine, a mixture of salt and water.

The storm tracked to the north and as the day went on more and more people ventured out for shopping and errands.

On Saturday, all DelDOT plow operators, mechanics and supervisors in New Castle County reported  at 6 a.m., and immediately begin treating.

Traffic information also is available on DelDOT station, WTMC 1380 AM.
