Blood Bank of Delmarva is holding four awards luncheons throughout Delmarva to recognize the 75 local high schools that contributed to the success of the 2012-2013 School Blood Drive Program.

The luncheons, which also serve as the official kick-off to this year’s school program, are attended by students and school advisors who will play a major role in organizing high school blood drives this season.

From September 2012 to May 2013, the high schools and 11 colleges hosted 136 blood drives resulting in 8,162 units of blood. Each unit of blood can save up to 3 lives.

The school administrators and students we work with truly make the school blood drive program a success. They work hard to promote the drives, recruit donors and volunteers and so much more,” said Kelly Sakiewicz, Blood Bank school program coordinator. “We are grateful for their enthusiasm and dedication to the program each year.”

There will be four awards luncheons held throughout Delmarva.
