A downtown Newark restaurant that offered small versions on hamburgers and other sandwiches is closing its doors.

Jason Voit, the owner of Main Street Sliders, made the following post on the establishment’s Facebook page.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that Main Street Sliders will be closing permanently on April 13, 2013 after proudly serving the students and local community over the past 3 years. The decision to leave Newark was not an easy one and one that I am not taking lightly. But many circumstances and factors played into this difficult situation. That being said, we hope that you, our valued patrons, guests, and friends, can help us go out with a bang and make our last days ones to remember! Thank you all for your patronage and support.

Main Street Sliders became a late-night destination for University of Delaware students as well as a popular lunch spot.

While in a prime location on Main Street, it was near  Cheeburger, Cheeburger, a hamburger restaurant franchise.

The two restaurants earlier  announced a truce in any possible burger war, noting that sliders and larger hamburgers were different options for customers.
