New Castle County detectives are currently investigating a tire theft at Greenville Place apartments that left the suspect in serious condition.

At 1:03 a.m., Thursday, County Police, paramedics and emergency personnel from the Cranston Hall Fire Company were called to the 100 block of Senatorial Drive for a report of a person who was yelling and screaming while trapped underneath the vehicle.

A short time after units arrived, members of the fire company were able to free the 33-year-old Wilmington man. He was treated and taken to Christiana Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

The investigation revealed the suspect apparently was attempting to remove the tires from a black Chevy Avalanche when he somehow became trapped underneath the truck.

Police also learned that his accomplice, described as a white male who was wearing an orange/red sweatshirt and a black coat, immediately fled from the scene after noticing that the suspect was trapped. Property was also taken from the vehicle.
