Yo Yo Joe's to open pop up store in Wilmington

YoYo Joe’s Toys & Fun will open a pop up store on 711 North Market Street in Downtown Wilmington. The store received the space through the  Delaware Economic Development Office under its Project Pop Up program.

Project Pop Up   provided temporary retail space to selected businesses. The Official opening is Nov 12th, but the store is expected to be open before  that time, according to the store’s Facebook posting.

YoYo Joe’s Toys and Fun opened on in October. The store is owned and operated by Emily and Joe Mitchell, Joe’s family owned and ran Mitchell’s from 1953 through -2008. Joe worked at Mitchell’s from 1990 to 2008.

Known for many year’s as Mitchell’s Department Store, the retailer was best known for its toy, scout and model railroad departments.

Another offshoot of Mitchell’s is Doug’s Trains, Toys and Hobbies, operated by a former Mitchell’s manager. Both Yo Yo Joe’s and Doug’s are on Concord Pike in north Wilmington.
