A launch of the new book on James S. Herr, Life with Flavor: A Personal History of Herr’s, will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, at Herr Foods Visitors’ Center.

Members of the Herr family will be on hand to talk about the book and sign copies. The public event will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 20 Herr Drive, Nottingham, Pa.  Co-authors June Herr Gunden, daughter of Jim Herr, and Bruce Mowday, will also be on hand to sign the book.

Jim Herr, who died just before the book was printed, was a member of a number of national business organizations, local civic organizations and the Mennonite church, which he actively supported. He also was a philanthropist.

The book costs $22.00 and is being sold at the Visitors’ Center. Publisher Barricade Books of Fort Lee, N.J., announced the book will be available through book stores this fall. Also books can be obtained by pre-ordering through the internet at amazon.com, bn.com, barricadebooks.com and by contacting Mowday at mowday@mowday.com.

With a $1,750 loan Jim and Mim Herr built Herr Foods from a small, one-kettle potato chip concern in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to one of the major snack food companies in the nation.
