NATION'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE UP SLIGHTLY AS JOB GROWTH PICKS UP

    Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 163,000 in July, and the unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 8.3 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.  The rate a month earlier had been 8.2 percent

    Employment rose in professional and business services, food services and drinking places, and manufacturing.

    The unemployment rate is based on information compiled by the BLS. Delaware’s unemployment rate is expected to be released around the 20th of this month. Delaware’s jobless rate has slipped below 7 percent.
