NFL games and the conclusion of the visit by Pope Francis to Philadelphia did not stop a sellout crowd from attending the Taste of Newark event at the University of Delaware Newark campus.
The event, held in warm, but fall-like weather on the last Sunday in September, featured food and drink from nearly 50 Newark restaurants, wineries, wine and spirits stores and beverage distributors.
Attendance is limited to 1,000 people and all tickets were sold.
The event, organized by the Downtown Newark Partnership and the UD Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, featured demonstrations by celebrity chefs including Ronnie Burkle from SoDel Concepts, a restaurant and catering group based in coastal Sussex County, DE.
