Delaware Today and Delaware Business Times publisher Today Media has acquired a suburban Washington, D.C. lifestyle magazine and news website.

The company, based in downtown Wilmington, acquired Bethesda Magazine and the news site MoCo360 from Z-Pop Media.

In addition to its Delaware publications and websites, Today Media has a custom publishing operation, along with regional magazines and niche publications in Westchester County, New York, and Mainline Today in suburban Philadelphia.

The outgoing owner said Today Media could provide the publishing efficiencies needed to sustain the magazine.

Today Media CEO Robert Martinelli also announced the team that will publish the magazine.

Bethesda Today is published six times a year, with the MoCo360 site posting news stores on a regular basis.

A political news site in Montgomery County, MD expressed concern over the sale, noting that Today Media specializes in lifestyle magazines.

“The big question now is this: given what Today Media does, what does this sale mean for hard journalism in Montgomery County?,” Montgomery Perspective wrote.
