The Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) has purchased 302 Savannah Road in Lewes from the Lewes Historical Society.

Built in 1898, the 3,485-square-foot structure is in the town’s Historic Business District.

“This property offers us a unique opportunity to create a salon-style gathering place for our donors, supporters, and non-profit partners,” said Stuart Comstock-Gay, CEO of DCF. “It will serve as our living room in Lewes, a space specifically designed to foster discussion as well as host programs and meetings.”

The foundation anticipates opening the building in the late spring when renovations are complete.

The building had housed an antique shop for the Historical Society and, at one point, served as the home of a women’s club in the coastal community.
