According to the National Weather Service, Northern Delaware could see a mix of rain and snow over the weekend as a major winter storm enters the region.

Areas along and north of the Interstate-78 corridor in Pennsylvania are the most likely to see snow accumulations Saturday into Sunday. The I-95 corridor that runs through the state could see a rain/snow mix with the rest of Delaware mainly seeing rain.

Delaware has for the most part, seen little snow in recent years, although a rare storm nearly two years ago led to accumulations in the southern part of the state and southern New Jersey. (See story below)

The track of the current storm remains uncertain, with a clearer picture emerging in the coming days.

Also in the offing is a another big storm system that is expected to arrive the middle of next week that could bring widespread heavy rain and flooding.

Creek levels remain high in Delaware from a previous storm.

Speculation on the storm has been a hot topic among online weather bloggers and forecasters, with some predictions of heavy snow, mainly to the north of Delaware, but lesser accumulations in the northern part of the state.
