New Castle County Police detectives have charged Gregory Stefan, 54, of Pennsylvania in connection with a headstone scam.

It was reported that Gregory reached out to individuals who had lost loved ones, meeting them at a cemetery, and designing a headstone for them. He would then create what appeared to be a formal contract, collect payment and then send a letter saying his business had gone bankrupt and he could not honor the contract.

Detectives assigned to the case gained a warrant for Stefan’s arrest. Stefan was charged with one felony count of theft of $1,500 or greater and one felony count of theft by false pretenses.

Stefan is currently wanted for his outstanding warrant. Multiple victims have come forward in Pennsylvania and New Jersey alleging similar behavior.
