Fire damages Greenwood commercial building

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a commercial storage building fire in Greenwood earlier this week..

The fire was reported shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 13. The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from an unoccupied maintenance structure at the New Process Fibre Company. Mutual aid fire companies assisted.

State fire investigators were called to the scene to perform an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The fire remains under investigation at this time.

There were no reported injuries.

Damage is estimated at $100, 000.

WDEL reported that fire trucks were damaged by thrown rocks. That incident is under investigation.
