A Courtyard by Marriott has opened in the New Castle area.
The Courtyard is located in a redeveloped area off Interstate 295 near the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The hotel has access to I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike.
The hotel has 125 rooms and joins other Courtyards in Newark and Wilmington. A former Couryard in the Ogletown-Christiana area now operates under another hotel banner.
Rates start at around $200 a night with tax.
Mid-priced Courtyard by Marriott properties feature a Bistro dining area as well as a fitness center and lounge. The hotel is near Wilmington (New Castle Airport) which now offers service from Avelo Airlines to Florida and other destinations. Courtyards cater to business travelers but also attract families.
The Courtyard by Marriott brand has 1,200 locations in 60 nations.
The hotel opening comes after a period during the Covid-19 pandemic when the number of hotel rooms in northern Delaware shrunk with the closing of a Country Inn and the conversion of a hotel along I-95 in the New Castle area into a county-owned center for the homeless.
Growth has been slow since that time with a Hyatt opening in downtown Newark. A couple of new hotels are in the works in the Newark and Stanton-Christiana (Delaware Park) areas.
