New Castle County Chamber of Commerce President Bob Chadwick has announced his retirement effective at the end of 2023.

The announcement was made in a message to chamber members late last month.

Chadwick was a longtime County Chamber staffer, starting as a contractor and became Director of the Economic Development Council. Later positions included Vice President for Business and Economic Development, Executive Vice President, Acting President. He became president in 2018.

“I will be 64 this year and will also become a first-time grandfather. I am eager to spend more time with family and more time pursuing my other passions, which include music and travel,” Chadwick stated.

Chadwick said he will assist the Chamber’s Executive Committee in recruiting a new President and will assist in the transition.

Chadwick led the chamber as it relocated its offices and business start-up incubator space from a site near the New Castle Airport to the Wilmington Riverfront.

Under Chadwick, the County Chamber, which like other membership organizations focused on in-person events, had to move to a virtual format during the Covid-19 pandemic. It has since resumed a full schedule.
