Fire at auto auction site near Elkton causes $200,000 in damage

A fire at a vehicle auction site caused $200,000 in damage early Monday morning.

About 40 vehicles were damaged, according to the Maryland Fire Marshal’s office.

At 3:56 a.m., The Singerly Fire Company was called to the site of an auto auction and storage yard on the 100 block of Zeither Road, near Elkton, MD. It took the 40 firefighters about an hour to quell the blaze from the engine compartment from a vehicle in the storage area that spread to others that were closely packed together.

No injuries were reported.
