Customers of Middletown’s electric utility endured an outage that began. Monday afternoon and evening. Power was restored at 11:30 p.m.

Delmarva Power reported extensive damage to one of its electric lines from a motor vehicle accident Monday morning. It required emergency repairs “for the safety of residents and the electric supply.”

While Middletown has its own electric system, it has no power plants and depends on Delmarva’s grid.

The outage only affected residents and businesses within the town limits of Middletown.

Middletown is no stranger to planned municipal maintenance outages that occasionally occur in the early morning hours and have a minimal impact.
