Finance Council to consider millions of dollars in business, city grant requests

On Monday, The Delaware Council on Development Finance will consider funding requests from the City of Milford, a north Wilmington chemical company and a Newark biotech company.

The council will meet Monday to consider the following:

  • – Ballydel Technologies, Inc., Wilmington is requesting $50,000 from the Delaware Strategic Fund Delaware Technical Innovation Program (DTIP) for a Small Business Technology Transfer Research grant.
    – The City of Milford is seeking a Level II Site Readiness Fund grant for $1 million for a project. The city is developing an industrial park site.
    – Solenis LLC, north Wilmington, is requesting a Performance Grant of $552,000 and a Graduated Lab Space grant of $3,500,000 to be used n expanding their footprint in the Wilmington area. Solenis has grown rapidly through acquisitions.
    – UVAX Bio, LLC  is seeking a Delaware Strategic Fund grant of $1,301,955 to expand its operations in Newark.

The grants require that applicants achieve hiring and investment targets.

The grants are used to add or retain jobs in the state. Other states have similar programs.

The council will hold a public hearing on Monday at 9 a.m. at the Buena Vista Conference Center, 661 South DuPont Highway, south of New Castle.
