Winter visitors to Valley of the Sun may get a break on fares as Frontier Airlines adds daily flights from Philadelphia and Baltimore-Washington to Phoenix Sky Harbor.

It’s part of a major expansion of service by the low-fare airline to Arizona’s largest city, with BWI and PHL flights beginning in early November.

See below for other departure cities.

With the new service, Frontier will serve 22 destinations from Phoenix. Frontier is opening a new crew base, which is expected to initially employ up to 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants.

“This major expansion of service from PHX solidifies Frontier’s place as one of Phoenix’s largest airlines,” said Barry Biffle, CEO, Frontier Airlines. “We’re thrilled to offer these new routes serving some of the most popular destinations in America. Our commitment to future growth at PHX is strong as we prepare to open our new crew base in November and introduce this expanded array of convenient, affordable flight options for Phoenix-area consumers.”

Phoenix has seen flight reductions over the years from American Airlines, which reduced the size of a former USAirways hub in the Arizona capital. Southwest maintains a large presence at Sky Harbor but has cut some service. American has also trimmed service from Philadephia due to a labor shortage and a more profitable Eastern hub in Charlotte.

American will offer half a dozen daily nonstop flights during November from PHL.

Frontier offers low base fares, with additional charges for checked luggage and seat assignments.

The carrier ended service from New Castle earlier this year.
