Walmart drivers can now make up to $110,000 in their first year with the company. Drivers who have been with Walmart longer can earn even more based on factors like tenure and location.

The retail giant is also looking for ways to find truck drivers within its ranks of associates.

Walmart has launched a Private Fleet Development Program. Over the course of a 12-week program, supply chain associates in the Dallas, Texas, and Dover (Smyna) DE areas earned their commercial driver’s license (CDL) and became full-fledged Walmart drivers.

The program uses driver-instructors from the ranks of the company’s 12,000 drivers. In addition, the company has added bonuses and improved schedules so drivers can spend more time at home, a release stated.

Walmart, like other companies, has seen a widespread labor shortage. It has joined other companies in offering higher pay to attract new and experienced drivers.
