21 Covid deaths from Jan., Feb. reported by Public Health division

Twenty-one deaths were reported by the Delaware Division of Public Health on Saturday, following a review of records from January and February.

Of those who died, 11 were residents of New Castle County, six resided in Kent County, and four lived in Sussex. They ranged in age from their 40s to their 90s. One individual did not have underlying health conditions, and four were residents of long-term care facilities.

A total of 16 who died were vaccinated, and five were fully vaccinated. The deaths increased Delaware’s total number of Covid-related fatalities to 2,833.

The deaths are a lagging indicator of the outbreak of the Omicron variant that led to more than 700 people in the hospital during early January.

• 2.9% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average, unchanged from the previous day.

• 43 current hospitalizations, down three from the previous day), including three individuals in critical condition.

• 2,513 tests performed daily in the 7-day average, up 69 from the previous day.
