Fire at Bethany oceanfront home causes a reported $2 million in damage

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating last night’s fire in Bethany Beach that heavily damaged a luxury beach home.

The blaze, reported around 11:30 p.m., Saturday in the 39000 block of Seaside Drive in Bethany Village.

Firefighters arriving on the scene found flames engulfing the oceanfront home.  The home was occupied, and everyone was able to escape. There were no reported injuries.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.

While the Fire Marshal’s office did not release a dollar figure on damage, media reports indicated the figure was $2 million.

It was the second luxury home fire in the state in recent days.

Last week, a home near Middletown sustained about $700,000 in damage.
